Honda calls it "push to pass," but that isn't a completely accurate nickname for the system.This year, cars have a new gadget called “push-to-pass” and it works almost exactly as it sounds. Just as in the Nintendo version, drivers can now push (as it is officially called) the overtake button on the upper right side of the steering wheel to give them a small and temporary power boost. The push-to-pass button, as it is commonly referred to, made its debut at Kentucky Speedway last August, but will be used for the first time at Indy in today's race. Honda, the sole engine supplier for the IZOD IndyCar Series, developed the system that is tied in with the engine's timing, allowing the power plant to surge from 10,300 rpm to 10,500 rpm for an 18-second interval
